sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

I haven't touched sdlmame in a while, so I was surprised when it [u6] refused to work. After an update to 0.145.u7-1 and some futile googling, I quit and downgraded to fix it. As it turns out, the oldest version in my cache was u4, and downgrading to it solves the problem. It's also -4.07 MiB compared to u7. Does anyone know what the hell?

Anyway, info:

Linux larch 3.3.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Apr 14 10:08:43 UTC 2012 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Re: sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

Same problem for me, 0.145u6 was working fine.
Now i got a segmentation fault with u7.

/usr/bin/sdlmame: line 58:  1840 Segmentation fault      ./sdlmame "$@"

I'm using Wahcade as frontend.

I correct myself, 0.145u6 doesn't work either.
I was using 0.145u4.

architecture is i686

0.145.u8-1 doesn't fix it for me.

hmm, .145u8 works for me on x86_64.  Anything special you did to reproduce this?

It works on x86_64 but not in i686.
In my 64 bit installation everything works fine.

Re: sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

Just tried the 0.146 version but i still got the same problem... Segmentation Fault:
/usr/bin/sdlmame: line 58:  2037 Segmentation fault      ./sdlmame "$@"

Segmentation fault on the bash script line 58 when the script launches /usr/share/sdlmame/sdlmame

Launching the /usr/share/sdlmame/sdlmame executable i got a Segmentation Fault, this is the message from dmesg:
sdlmame[2099]: segfault at 1 ip 0a200436 spbfbfafb0 error 4 in sdlmame[8048000+4203000]

I got this on my i686 installation, everything normal in the x86_64 installation. sad

Same here. It's a real shame. We need to report the bug as I've found no reference to this bug elsewhere, so perhaps this is distribution-wise.

Re: sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

I have the same problem. The problem is I can't even downgrade the package to get a temporary workaround. I'm new to arch, 0.146 was the first version I installed so I'm sure the pkg is not there in my cache. Does that leave me with no option but to recompile manually?

download from here: http://arm.konnichi.com/community/os/i6 … pkg.tar.xz
and then intall it by typing: pacman -U pkg-name

Re: sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

Same here, on i686 architecture, 0.145.u4 is the last that works.

0.146.u2-2 still doesn't work

EDIT: SOLVED

According to https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29986?project=5&cat, 0.146.u2 does work if you
add following line:
sed -i "s/^OPTIMIZE\ =\ 3/OPTIMIZE\ =\ 2/g" makefile
into build() of PKGBUILD (one line before "make NOWERROR=1") and makepkg yourself.

Re: sdlmame 0.145.u[6,7]-1 segfaults

How about PKGBUILD?
On AUR there's not 0.146u2-2 version

EDIT: I downloaded source files from MAME official site but how about PKGBUILD?
I only change OPTIMIZE number in MAKEFILE

EDIT 2: SOLVED

Forgot to say, the PKGBUILD is for sdlmame in Official repo.

you can easily get the tarball of this package in official repo by
sudo abs community/sdlmame (require abs to be installed)
