Heres my setup!
It's herbstluftwm running screen (thats what I use for most tasks → Terminal, Irc, Music, etc.) and conky. Dwb and Emacs are in fullscreen on 2 other workspaces per default.

After not changing my environment at all for a while, I ended up replacing urxvt with something more customizable. With the extra/terminal package (the terminal used in xfce) and a modified GTK theme, a new slick, tabbed, 256-color terminal was born. It has everything I loved about urxvt and none of the things I hated. One thing I like about this terminal emulator is that it allows you to customize the keybindings for managing tabs. I never found a way to do that with urxvt-tabbed. To set the dark GTK theme per-application, I launch the terminal with this:
GTK2_RC_FILES=/home/brad/.themes/minimaldark.gtkrc terminal
