Recently just installed a Startech expresscard usb 3.0 using an NEC chipset. and Regular USB 2.0 drives mount automatically and work fine. My seagate 3.0 drive won't work at all however, it works fine when I boot up Linux mint on a usb drive.
Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks

My guess would be that you are missing a kernel mode driver -- one that is not enabled by default in our kernel.
I would start by comparing the output of lsmod on Mint and and Arch to see if you can determine the name of the module that exists on Mint, but not Arch. You may also want to look at the system logs on Mint to find the driver name. I don't have a custom kernel at the moment, so it is not convenient for me to check.

zlib_deflate
libcrc32c

Loaded them all except a few that didn't work, still doesn't mount the drive or recognize it

Can you post the output of lspci -nn (That is two n's, not m) ??

Booted up LINUX MINT, and attempted a removal of those 4 modules above. Only removing dm_raid45 worked, and one I removed it, I tried my 3.0 drive and it did not work. Then I reloaded it and it did work, so I guess thats the module
But I can't load it in the Arch kernel because I get a FATAL message, so what now
Thanks

Try: sudo modprobe raid456

I inserted it, but it didn't do anything.

I set myself up to build a kernel last night. Did you ever get the lspci -nn output I'd requested?
Edit: Also, can you post the output of lsusb whilst your drive is attached?
