Have you followed the instructions in the Arch wiki? If I recall correctly, you need to use a different version of lwjgl than the one packaged with minecraft, and your errors do appear to be lwjgl-related. If that's not it, what have you done, setup-wise?

Furthermore, you appear to be using java 6; have you tried the more up-to-date java 7, available in [extra]?

More up to date java is always nice.
On my server/client (i play my server close to daily since version 1.4), i use OpenJRE-7, and follow the main Minecraft releases (currently at 1.2.5)
and the original lwjgl shipped with minecraft. (the stuck-keys bug has been resolved some version ago)

Oh, and yeah, it is the main arch-repo jre: extra/jdk7-openjre

This is good advice, because updating lwjgl may or may not work.

I've been following the Minecraft subreddit for some time, and many of the black screen/crash-related issues are tied to people using an older version of Java. It works just fine with Java 7, as long as you're using the most recent build of Minecraft. As PReP wrote, this is currently 1.2.5.
