Dell E6400 Touchpad lag

I am experiencing a slight delay when trying to move a mouse cursor using touchpad on my Dell Latitude E6400.  It's a small delay, but i am used to instant response from my previous laptop. Also if i quite quickly swipe a finger over the touchpad, the mouse pointer won't move at all. On other notebooks I've tried this is not an issue, and the mouse pointer reacts almost instantly. I've tried to play with settings using synclient, but with no luck. Tapping is also slow, but i have FastTaps option switched on.
