Hello,
I try to install Arch linux on a dualboot with Windows7 on one disk.
I have 100G avaible for Arch Linux.
So I went on with the installation.
Came into the cfdisk screen and make one big partition of 100G.
Click on write and on quit.
But then I came to the screen where the disk must be partioned.
What did I do wrong ?

Hello roelof,
I don't much understand what exactly happend to you. You created one partiotion (I suppose - sda3), choose filetype (linux - 83) and then wrote it to the table. And ''cfdisk'' was ended correctly or not? What exactly was displayed on the screen?

I don't exactly know for certain that cfdisk was ended correctly.
But as you said I made one partition of linux-83 but I saw a message that the partition was not made bootable.
And that's correct otherwise I have to bootable partitions my windows partition and the arch partition.
I think if the windows parition is not bootable I cannot boot anymore in Windows.

I think you don't afraid of your Windows. Just write me output of ''fdisk -l /dev/sda''.

oke,
I will give it to you tomorrow. It's now time to sleep.

Fdisk -l /dev/sda gives this output
device boot start End Blocks id system
/dev/sda1 2048 206847 102400 7 hpfs/ntfs/exfat
/dev/sda2 * 206848 419637247 209715200 7 hpfs/ntfs/exfat

Ouki, so now try to create ''/dev/sda3'' again. If the creation process fails again you send me message displayed on your screen.

I created it as a primary partition and when I choose write I see this message :
write partition to disk
Toggle bootable flag of the current partition.
Then when I choose quit I get the screen back where I have to partition the disk and my changes are not visible.

I found the problem and solved it.
It's correct to see the screen again and then I have to choose to manually make the filesystems and mountpoints.
So Archlinux is workimg now and back to the manuals to make my intel graphical card work and then install KDE and work

This is good news. I couldn't help you yesterday because I didn't have some HDD to test ''cfdisk'' to verify behavior of cfdisk.. So enjoy your Arch Linux ;].
