Battery monitor not working in KDE

Recently I installed KDE on my Dell XPS15 laptop. The default battery monitor came with the installation is not detecting the laptop battery. It says,

Battery: Not present

And of course it is also not showing the time remaining.

I did the following in the terminal.

#upower --enumerate

(upower:2179): libupower-glib-WARNING **: Couldn't enumerate devices: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

(upower:2179): UPower-WARNING **: failed to enumerate: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

Anyone having a similar experience?
