It kills fglrx or Xorg?
Do you get a log, error report or something?

maybe a little bit more from /var/log/Xorg.0.log can tell us something.

Did you run catalyst_build_module as root?
If so, you should run it as normal user.
Try uninstalling the current catalyst by executing
sudo catalyst_build_module remove_all
Then reboot, and go into single user mode (it's not necessary, just to be sure)
type
login
enter your username
and your password
and then run

That's odd, we have the same hardware.
have you tried with the propietary driver from ATI?
Or downgrading linux?
Let's do something: if your problem is that you can't build your module, and we have the exact same 6620G, what if I roll to you a pre-compiled package?
Offline
Lets try it. I dont feel like downgrading linux. Worst case, I will use it with the watermark until I find a solution. But lets try a precompile one..I appreciate your help, you have no idea.

I would suggest copying the module manually, and running the install script separately, but that's not sane nor safe.
At least, that's what I desperately do in case nothing else is working.
And, what if something is wrong with your make?
Try reinstalling it to see what happens
Reinstall auto-make cmake make

A no go. Tried all that..plus removed all drivers, modules you name it haaa.. its ok..Arch has never been broken like this for me before.. Cabutan, I have no idea if it has anything to do with at all, just shooting blind here. Do you have multilibs from gcc, gcc-libs installed? When dealing with the glibc upgrade, I had to replace the multilibs with the x64 versions before moving forward. Since you say the issue came up after glibc I thought to better mention it, even if it sounds silly

@cabutan:
it's looking like 3.4.patch was not applied.
To check what really happened enter /tmp/catalyst.<random_chars> directory and look at kcl_ioctl.c file (were lines from 3.4.patch added?)

ok, got it working. It was all the infamous glibc update.. Instead of fixing the problem back then, I downgraded glibc and for some reason, things wouldnt compile or packages couldnt get installed. Thanks again for all the help. Cheers
