unable to select SATA options in xconfig

I've just upgraded to the 2.6.12 kernel from the repositories, and am having problems compiling in support for a Silicon Image SATA hdd. I'm compiling using ABS, and have selected 'show all options' when xconfig appears, but the SCSI Low Level Driver option for Silicon Image is greyed out, and I can't select it. What do I do?

Re: unable to select SATA options in xconfig

Verify you included all the necessary options, in paticular, under Code maturity level options, make sure you have:

[*] Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers
[ ] Select only drivers expected to compile cleanly
