I'm attempting to install the mplayer2 package, but pacman is unable to grab mpg123:

Wait for the mirror to sync it or download manually from Packages.

Nope. Update your system first, install new packages later - we're at mpg123 1.14.3-2 in [multilib] and 1.14.4-1 in [extra].
