Gamin eating CPU

Ok, I sort of know that Gamin replaces FAM, but when I was using FAM, I never notived my CPU consistantly being used.

Is there a way of turning off gamin? I see in top that gam_server is eating up 30% of my cpu consistantly untill I log off, then it stops until something else starts it.

I tried removing it, but it says that kdelibs is dependant on it...

Thoughts?

What version are you using? Because gamin eating 30% of your CPU time is definitely not normal.

Re: Gamin eating CPU

I think that gamin is not a deamon.  It is started when it's needed.

Re: Gamin eating CPU

Don't worry, I've had famd eating all the CPU here several times.

I hope things will be better once inotify gets used properly by the applications (I might be wrong about inotify, but I think it helps - need more documenting on this).
