Skype voice repetition

I use Skype 4 with ALSA on GNOME 3. People tell me that they hear my voice twice (voice and the echo of it). Have somebody solved this problem?

I will. But I am afraid that people won't be able to hear me, because now the level is one third of the max level.

I'm not an expert in the matter, but maybe the sample rate for your sound card is wrong. Try to reset it to 48000 Hz or 96000 Hz

Sample rate doesn't matter. That generally reflects the quality (22 KHz, 40, 44, 48, etc), along with the bitrate, and 96 KHz is only for expensive sound cards, not onboard audio. The echo that you're hearing is called a Larsen effect. It's basically a sound loop of what comes out of the speakers going into the mic, and so on, in a loop. One of you needs to turn down the speakers or use headphones. Expensive microphones can reduce it to some degree or deal with it completely, while cheap crap most likely won't.

Assuming the other person is also not using headphones/isn't running echo cancellation, you are correct.  Otherwise, his voice wouldn't be coming out of his own speakers, so there shouldn't be any feedback.  (And presumably it would be noticeable if he was hearing his own voice from his speakers, hmm?)

That said, PulseAudio has an echo cancellation module that might help.  Run:

pactl load-module module-echo-cancel

and set Skype's audio input and output to the echo cancel source and sink.

Yes, ryukafalz is right, I don't hear my voice from the speakers. And that is why I called this topic "voice repetition", but not "echo".

I don't have PulseAudio and I don't think that it a good idea to install it. Because every time I install, Skype cannot work at all: no sound.
