Whenever I turn my montior off, x goes out of proportion, and stretches and skews itself offscreen, does anyone know what might be causing this? Until now I have jsut put up with it, but it is really starting to annoy me, as I have to go into a virtual terminal and back each time.

You're not by chance using a KVM switch are you?
Offline
actually no

I don't have this problem on my ArchLinux system, but I am having the exact problem you're having on my PCLinuxOS system.
I'll do a little checking on my PCLOS system and see if I can figure it out, and let you know.

Is DDC enabled in your XOrg.conf?

no, and there is no mention of it in the whole document.

Yep, the DDC module fixed mine.
I already had it in my Arch config, but forgot to put it into my PCLinuxOS config.

what should I add, as there is nothing called ddc in the xorg.conf

look for the section called " Section "Module" " and then add the line Load "ddc" somewhere underneath.
You'll also need to restart the x-server for the module to become active or just reboot your machine.

ok, thanks, I had added Load "ddc" and restarted x, guess I need to reboot.
