firefox: critical security flaw in 1.0.6

i searched the forum, but i didn't see anything about this, apologies if it's already been posted:
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/securi … 637,00.htm

it looks potentially pretty damaging, but i couldn't tell from the article if it was only in 1.0.6, or if it's also in some or all versions below that. i use mozilla mostly, but i just checked my firefox and it's 1.0.4, so perhaps arch is not vulnerable. but maybe arch ff should be upgraded to 1.0.7  at the first opportunity to be on the safe side? and of course if you run other distros and have 1.0.6, it would be a good idea to upgrade.

ciao

I already posted this, though I mistakenly thought it had been fixed in 1.0.6.

At any rate, you'd be right to say that the Firefox version in Current should be updated *ASAP*.

I sure hope 1.0.7 is good, because what I've got now isn't worth a damn...

firefox sucks ...  but as they phase out mozilla, what's the alternative? opera? ugh.

Uhh... Sea Monkey?

(I don't have a problem with Firefox... I do, however, have a problem with it being the sole provider of Gecko. I also have a problem with the current version of Gecko, which is a bit pokey compared to, say, KHTML... But version 1.5 is supposed to be a lot faster.)

Yep, Galeon is cool. The only problem is that it depends on Firefox, but Firefox isn't that big, and that problem will be solved soon enough anyway. 8)
