how to measure input lag?

I am trying to get rid of input lag on my system to improve gaming. The wiki has a few tips, like using  Linux-ck kernel, ulatencyd, and nice level.  But without knowing the effectiveness I risk ending up with all kinds of placebo tweaks. Is there any way to measure the effect? Or has someone else done some testing?

Can try OGL_MaxFramesAllowed:

Option "RegistryDwords" "OGL_MaxFramesAllowed=0x0; EnableBrightnessControl=1"

And here's my big summary of tweaks.

I only test with my own eyes. For example, if a tweak made it smoother overall, but added a micro-stutter every few seconds, I would find it too annoying wink

Re: how to measure input lag?

Thanks I'll go try those out. Still, because the effect is often subtle it is hard to judge which ones actually work, and which are only placebo.
