I can`t ger access to system settings using kdesu. It worked fine twice, and than it stopped working properly (no reason why). This is the exact error i get after typing kdesu systemsettings and giving root password:

also, is it fine that i get this error if i try to use kdesu command as a aroot? :
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keyInvalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keyxhost: unable to open display ":0"
I`d gladly try to work out the solution for myself, but I didn`t find anything useful in google, and I have no idea what might be wrong. And no, I don`t use kdemod

It looks like you're running it as 'root'. It should be run as your normal user.

The second one is the output from running as a root, but the first error is what i get while running as a normal user

Well, it`s nott realy a solution... but I got to the systemsettings by instaling and using kdesudo
Offline
try starting it with dbus-launch kdesu systemsettings

Even though this is an old post, I just got hit with the exact same behavior. Was this ever solved? Or once broken, is kdesudo the only answer?

Okay I have fixed this problem by overwriting the .Xauthority in /root with the copy in /home/user.
