how to replace pc speaker beep whit sound file?

Hi, I want to change the pcspeaker beep to a sound file. Kinda annoying hearing the same ol pcspeaker beep all the time. for example, it would be nice to have a star trek beep instead of the pc speaker beep when irssi makes gnu screens audible bell beep. Or when you hit tab or backspace in the terminal. Anyone know a way to replace pcspeaker beeps whit sound files?

If you are using pulseaudio you can get this by modifying /etc/pulse/default.pa, see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=607393#c15 for details, e.g. :
load-sample-lazy x11-bell /usr/share/orage/sounds/Tear.wav
load-module module-x11-bell sample=x11-bell

Noep, xbelld doesnt seam to be what i am looking for cause it doesnt work with the beeps in the terminal, screen for example. it works however in gui apps, like in chrome when hitting backspace in a empty adressbar.
