Backup & Install

I'm looking for a way to backup my current install and restore it on my new pc.

I'm currently running Arch x64 with systemd, grub2, vainilla kernel, ... Nothing funky/strange.

My current configuration:
Motherboard: ASUS P5K SE (BIOS)
CPU: Intel Core2 QUAD Q9550 (x64)
Graphics: NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS
HDD: KINGSTON SV100S2 (SSD)

My new configuration:
Motherboard: Intel DX79SI (EFI)
CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 (x64)
Graphics: NVidia GeForce GT 520
HDD: KINGSTON SV100S2 (SSD)

I thought about a 1:1 HDD copy but then I thought that perhaps a BIOS vs EFI conflict could happen (because of GRUB2 currently configured for BIOS instead of EFI).
NVidia driver should handle the change iirc.

So, what are my options?

a) 1:1 copy?
b) Just backup /home/<user> and install arch on my new pc? (I really don't want to do that, don't have that much time)
c) dark magic?

Reinstalling probably would not take as long as you think. Most of it would be unattended time (downloading packages).

1. Make a backup just in case (you already have one, right? )
2. Either put your old hard drive in your new machine or use an external hard drive
3. With the system rescue cd, save your installation with fsarchiver
4. Boot new machine with Sys Res CD...create partitions if necessary, restore from fsarchiver archive, install bootloader, chroot into arch and mkinitcpio.
5. Reboot

Maybe there's an easier way, but that's what just worked for me
