I'm guessing its set up this way as default to drain battery but I really could use help on letting it jump up on battery without just telling it to always be on 2.

The only thing i can find is to specify a performance level in xorg. Which on a laptop is certainly not preferable. The only other idea i've come up with is to blacklist whatever module is telling its on battery. Its not doing it though acpid or the Ac module as i have both of them blacklisted. my next guess would be the battery module which wouldn't be a good idea to blacklist.
