Can't get my Asus Xtion Pro Live to work

I really hope there are some knowledgeable people for this problem on these forums. I just can't seem to get this device to work.

This is the error I get upon trying to run any OpenNI stuff.

One or more of the following nodes could not be enumerated:
Device: PrimeSense/SensorKinect/5.1.2.1: The device is not connected!

I'm using OpenNI from git unstable and SensorKinect from git, both built today.

The device works fine in Ubuntu. Upon connecting the device to my Arch laptop, dmesg says just:

[79395.166354] usb 3-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 16 using ehci_hcd

In Ubuntu it spits out a few additional lines.

The device does show up in lsmod and this is the output of lsusb -s 016 -vvv:

The gspca_kinect module does not get loaded and does not snatch away the device.

Running as root results in the same problems so it's likely not a permission problem.

Frankly, I have no idea what's wrong. Help greatly appreciated.
