This workstation dual boots between Windows 7 and Arch. In Windows, Minecraft runs just fine. In Linux, there's this strange stutter. It's kind of an unusual performance issue, cause the framerate is great for about 1/3 of a second, then it'll stall for about 1/10 of a second, run for 1/3 of a second, stall for 1/10, etc. Also, my ATi graphics card recently died and I bought a GTX-460, and funny enough, this occurs on both the "nvidia" driver and the "fglrx" driver. A Java issue, perhaps? I tried openjdk 6 and 7 with the same results, however. Perhaps it's bad code on Mojangg's part? This is a recent problem and I can't really search "minecraft linux stutters" on Google without people talking about running it on Intel GMAs or whatever... bleh. Any thoughts?

try:
1) set graphic settings to "low", such as rendering distance
2) openjdk-> (aur) jre7
