Insane increase in OpenGL FPS

I know, I know, don't look a gift horse in the mouth... But I really wonder what caused my FPS in BZFlag to jump from ~10 to ~30. No changes in glxgears FPS, no changes from my last xorg.conf, no BIOS changes, and I'm using Current repo. Was there an update of BZFlag without any notice on the Arch homepage?
