I'm trying to install arch (which I have done many times in the past in different circumstances to now) but my only internet connection is through a VPN. To connect to the VPN I need to login to a web form. I have tried using elinks to login and can bring up the login page fine but it doesn't seem to be able to handle the connection script and fails to connect.
I do have access to another VPN that connects through a .pac script. I tried setting the http_proxy enviroment variable to the host name I found in the .pac file but it wouldn't work. On my windows box I just paste a link to the .pac script in the "use automated configuration" in LAN settings and enter my details in my browser once I'm prompted. I know there is a wiki page on connecting to proxies but it doesn't say anything about automated configurations.
Can anyone suggest how I go about getting connected to the internet from the install disc?

Try connecting the other machine to the vpn and note down the following settings:
MAC address, DNS servers, IP, gateway and subnet mask.
Set up those to be exactly the same in the machine you're about to install and switch the cables.
The LAN network have about 30 seconds timeout before resetting and requireing a new lease (new login) so you might just be able to log in.
That's how I used to cheat the university internet in order to set up a router...

Genius! I tried something similar at first but didn't think of changing the MAC address. I'm typing this from elinks on the live cd right now Thanks! (this also happens to be for my uni internet connection)
