[SOLVED] Trouble with webcam

Hello everybody.
I can't get video output from my webcam @ thinkpad x220i. Until today it worked fine but I broke it. I'm interested in video capturing programs and looked for some examples. I found this, compiled and executed with '-o' key, then program started to print much output. It was boring for me to wait for finish, so I pressed Ctrl+Z to stop it. I noticed that webcam is still working and executed #kill -s SIGKILL <pid-of-program>. After that webcam didn't work anymore. Reboot and off/on in BIOS didn't help.

How to get webcam back?

I don't know how, but day after webcam appears to be ok.

I have the same issue. It's also a Chicony webcam on a Lenovo, but a different model.

For me, the webcam did not come back after one day, though. The problem remains. Output of fswebcam and xawtv is the same as yours.

Any ideas?

Try unplugging the camera, then shutting off your computer. Plug in the camera, and start the computer again.
If it's built-in, a full power off is as good as unplugging. (Remove power cord and battery, then replace)
