Hi !
I'm still trying to improve my arch install.
Today I try to configure sound.
I've got an sound card : a Xonar DG in order to drive my headset.
$ aplay -l

I'm the only user, I try the local install...
$ ls -l ~/music.d/.mpd
total 4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 thom root 625 29 août 02:17 config
-rwxr-xr-x 1 thom users 0 29 août 01:46 mpd.error
-rwxr-xr-x 1 thom users 0 29 août 00:06 mpd.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 thom users 0 29 août 00:06 mpd.pid
-rw-r--r-- 1 thom users 0 29 août 00:06 mpdstate
-rw-r--r-- 1 thom users 0 29 août 00:06 playlists.d
-rw-r--r-- 1 thom users 0 29 août 00:06 tag_cacheI put mpd as daemon in rc.conf.
My issues
1 - I can't have more than one sound output.
Ex :
If youtube works vlc, deadbeef doesn't.
If vlc works youtube, deadbeef doesn't
...
I know it's not useful but i've got the habit to work with music in background...
2 - mpd doesn't start on console and cmpcpp too
unrecognized parameter in config file at line 5: error_file
Couldn't connect to MPD (host = localhost, port = 6600): Connexion refusée.mpd/config

I am a bit surprised your config file is read at all... when you start mpd as a daemon /home/thom/.mpd/config will not be read at all.... (In fact this file is never read, ~/.mpdconf is)
that config file belongs to /etc/mpd.conf in this case.
And yea, error file is not a valid option anymore. remove that line.
If you dont use IPv6 you SHOULD have bind_to_address lines active. simply activate that line.
Apart from that this config looks alright.
Your sound issues have nothing to do with MPD tho. do you have a ~/.asoundrc OR a /etc/asound.conf file?

Ok.
I've got tone of small mistake like .mpd/ instead of .mpd.d (I try to create the folder with name which finish by xxxx.d)
The folder playlist not at the good place...
I remove the mpd.conf
I remove the daemon
I put it on the .xinitrc.
Thanks.

It's not fully working. But it's not the same mistake.
Thanks for helping.
