All are SATA III drives and the motherboard support SATA III. There are no jumpers on the drives that limit the speed.  I've check the bios and there is no setting to set the speed of the SATA bus. The drives are being detected using ahci but not at SATA III speeds. I'm not sure if it matters but the OCZ drive was cloned for a slower speed drive when it was installed. I've been searching and can't find how to get the drives to detect at SATA III. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Re: SATA III detected at SATA II speeds

No ideas at all? If I had to guess I'd say it was a driver issue. There is a model similar that only has SATA II

Re: SATA III detected at SATA II speeds

I know this thread is a bit old, but I just noticed that my SATA III ports are being recognized as SATA II and my SATA II ports are being recognized as SATA I... not sure why this is.  I have a brand new Lenovo E430 with HM77 chipset, so maybe that has something to do with it?  I know this chipset is ultra new.

I haven't a clue where to start looking, and seeing that Gnarl didn't get a response either, I am not putting too much confidence in any real answers.  But if you have any ideas, I would love to hear 'em!

Re: SATA III detected at SATA II speeds

@OP - some HDD's use a jumper to control SATAII/III behavior.  I don't think the WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 does based on a quick google search... but does it?  From the link you posted, this board contains only SATAIII connectors... does it?  Have you tried another connector?

Re: SATA III detected at SATA II speeds

Well, I am glad my semi-necro-bump was able to bring fresh new attention to the OP's seemingly unresolved problem.

I am an idiot, and after closer inspection, my SATA III is running at SATA II speeds because it is a SATA II drive.  I thought that my Mushkin Atlas mSATA SSD (SATA III) was running at 1.5Gbps, but that is actually my optical drive.  My SSD is running at the expected SATA II speed since that particular input is SATA II (which was was indeed aware of).

@OP, if you are still following this thread, I hope your problem is solved.
