Installed firefox-devel from the repo, but when run it does nothing. No window, no console messages and its process dies.
Any ideas?

Shadowhand, I'm just done with a new installation of Arch, and when I reached the bit where I install beagle I noticed that gmime and gmime-sharp have conflicting files. I find it it strange that I didn't have the problem last time I installed beagle. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know in case you haven't noticed.
Also, running beagled complains about not being able to load Assembly: gtk-sharp, referenced from /usr/lib/beagle/BeagleDaemon.exe. And then it exits.
EDIT: Right, I noticed the error is identical to that which I've posted earlier. So nevermind that. (Problem now is, that I can't build beagle on the new installation for some reason)

not-working beagle would be because of gecko-sharp that has references to the old firefox 1.0.6 libs ![]()

I'm staying with mozilla-firefox 1.0.6 for now, though...

Indeed. Strange that there's no list of dependencies in the README or INSTALL yet.
Cheers.

Same problem as SamuraiDan, firefox-devel doesn't launch and the process just dies...:(

I haven't been able to figure out what makes this happen yet. You're the fourth person to report it, but I haven't been able to find a solution yet. If anyone figures something out, let me know.

Was I the first? 8)
For what it's worth, I'm still using shadowhand's pre-Cairo version of FF beta and that works, it's only the recent versions that include Cairo that have this problem..

pacman -Rd firefox-devel
pacman -Sd mozilla-firefoxFirefox-devel and mozilla-firefox provide 'mozilla-firefox', which is why you're getting that problem.

Repo updated.
Beagle no longer requires mozilla-firefox as a depend (but as a makedepend instead), local version bumped to 2, gmime-sharp dep removed (provided by gmime-2.1.16), gmime-2.1.16 now available in repo (util devs update Extra).
E17 packages added. (See which are available with pacman -Sl shadowhand .)
Firefox 1.5b1 now has cairo support.
Hi Shadowhand,
To run Beagle which packages do we download from your repo? I see beagle-devel, but I'm not sure what to download.
Thanks,

Any suggested solutions?

Repo updated.
-Please use Beagle instead of Beagle-devel now (compiled against GCC4, it works again!
).
-Updated Firefox-devel to GCC4 (works!
).
-Added rss-glx (Really Slick Screensavers for GLX). These are some nifty screensavers that have been ported from OSX and other sources. Try 'em out!
-E17 CVS packages will be updated soon, I've been having issues due to libtool-slay. ![]()

Curious; do you get these working without KDE, or do you use KDE? In any case, how do you set them for use under e17?
Thanks for the update, by the way ![]()

Another question; do you slay the .la files in your packages?
Offline
Rss-glx never required KDE. They are xscreensaver screensavers, so why would KDE be necessary?
There are no .la files in any of the updated packages. The E17 packages that are in my repo right now have some, but they will be slayed when I update. (E17 CVS appears to have some issues right now, so it's going to be a while until I update those packages....
)

True, but for some reason it has been hard to integrate them with xscreensaver, whereas KDE has apparently been able to handle them. There is some indication of it at AUR, where the PKGBUILD is [url=http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=984&O=0&L=0&C=0&K=rss-glx&SB=n&SO=a&PP=25&do_MyPackages=0&do_Orphans=0]discussed

Thanks for fixing firefox-devel shadow. Went back to extra/mozilla-firefox with my fingers crossed that I wouldn't have to build my own firefox-devel cause it takes way too long to compile
I don't think I had antialiasing in Firefox before either because my fonts look all smoother now. Not sure I actually like it...

Does FF-devel work with the FF 1.0.x profile, or will I need to wipe it before trying devel out?
Offline
I just installed it over the top and all my bookmarks etc carried over. None of my extensions still work but I only had a couple and it's not really worth investigating.
Offline
Firefox-devel: You can install over 1.0.x, and yeah, your extensions will be missing, but almost all extensions at update.mozilla.org have been updated to support 1.5b1.
rss-glx: I did notice that the config_sample.xml was missing from the AUR pkgbuild. If anyone can send it to me, I'd love to rebuild rss-glx and use it. I think the screensavers are working on my system because I still had the .xml config files from a previous ABS build I had done of rss-glx. So... the rss-glx in my repo may or may not integrate into xscreensaver properly.
