HP Printer Fails with "Filter failed"

I recently purchased an HP Deskjet 2510 and proceeded to install the hplip driver and cups 1.6.1.  When I attempt to print any page, it returns the error "stopped, Filter failed".  Dmesg returns

[  445.947231] usblp0: removed
[  447.703154] usblp 1-1:1.1: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 2 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0xAC11

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: HP Printer Fails with "Filter failed"

I'm having the exact same issue with a Deskjet 1055. I've been messing with it off and on for the last week with no luck.

Re: HP Printer Fails with "Filter failed"

Did you install the cups-filters package when you installed cups?

Make sure you don't blacklist the usblp module anymore.

No blacklisting has occurred in my case.

Re: HP Printer Fails with "Filter failed"

OK, why don't you tell us exactly what you have installed from the wiki topic, and what you have not installed, instead of making us play twenty questions? What else have you tried while you were waiting?

Did you install any of the foomatic packages? Did you see this in the wiki:

If unsure of what driver package to install or if the current driver is not working, it may be easiest to just install all of the drivers, since some of the packages are misleading because printers of other makes may rely on them. For instance, the Brother HL-2140 needs the hplip driver installed.

Hi freaks,  I suppose that is relevant and is a good suggestion.
Never-the-less, I am going to take the opportunity  to close this ancient thread.  Should anyone need to continue, please open a new thread and (if appropriate) link back to this thread.
