Smart Error

Hi all,

I think that I have a problem with a hard disk. I've received in my email account this messagge :

This email was generated by the smartd daemon running on:

   host name: ciuchino
  DNS domain: localdomain
  NIS domain: (none)

The following warning/error was logged by the smartd daemon:

Device: /dev/sdb, 1 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors

For details see host's SYSLOG.

You can also use the smartctl utility for further investigation.
No additional email messages about this problem will be sent.

So I made sure that there was a problem :

[campo@ciuchino ~]$ sudo smartctl -H /dev/sdb
smartctl 5.43 2012-06-30 r3573 [x86_64-linux-3.5.0-1-CAMPO] (local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-12 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net

SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED

The output of smartctl made me confused, so I ran the long test ( smartctl -t long /dev/sdb ) and then I checked the output of the test :

[campo@ciuchino ~]$ sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdb
smartctl 5.43 2012-06-30 r3573 [x86_64-linux-3.5.0-1-CAMPO] (local build)

Why isn't there any error in "SMART Self-test log" ? Do I have a real problem in hard disk ? Will it break soon ? Thank in advice for any reply.

Best Regards
Stefano
