Status of npapi-vlc

I was about to install npapi-vlc-git
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41893
but the package is reported to be unsupported.
So before I even try to test this package I have a couple of questions:

1. Does it work, and if not, what is the status on this plugin?
2. Is this plugin able to stream Windows media like WMV and the like?

I tried a package called browser-plugin-vlc in Ubuntu, which I think is the same plugin, but when it came to streaming WMV it didn't seem to work.
IMO it would be really nice for the KDE desktop if they get this plugin to work properly, as the only media streamer I find good enough atm is the gnome totem stuff
