Out of curiosity I checked if this happens with the LTS kernel and it does not. I am not sure though if this is a 'proper'/valid comparison though.

I have six machines running Arch. Only one of the machines displays this "error". It has an nvidia Quadro FX 500/600 using the nouveau drivers.

I get this error from a an old Packard Bell with a radeon 9200 card. After it gives me this error, it churns out a bunch of strangely accented letters for a couple of lines afterwards.
I notice the word "old" seems to feature in this thread quite a bit...

By grepping the source, I found that this error is thrown by either the lpc_sch module or the lpc_ich module. You should probably report a kernel bug.

@Stebalien
I have reported it with regard to the lpc_ich module.

I have an old IBM Thinkpad G40 with integrated Intel graphics; in my case the error-message disappeared after configuring Early KMS start: see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … de_Setting
Hope it solves your problem too
edit: oops; too quick; after this error-message my consolefont changed; after enabling Early KMS start the consolefont problem was solved, but this error message was still there; sorry.

The message was changed from an "error" to a "notice" in the upcoming 3.8 kernel. So with kernel 3.8 the message won't be printed on the console, but will still be logged for informational purposes. Additional information can be found at https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48521 .
In the short term, the message can be ignored. It indicates your BIOS didn't configure a GPIO controller that's present on your PC, but this isn't considered an error in general.
