[SOLVED] Minitube Not Operational

From the main repo, not the AUR. x86_64.

I get audio, but no video. After about ~15 seconds of audio playback, the audio gets choppy, and minitube freezes outright and freezes my GUI....Until about a minute later, then I tell it to close, which in time...it eventually does.

Minitube's design concept looks really great for me, and YouTube is my version of TV these days.

Followed the other posts and ensured I had all installed. Totem works fine, etc. This is the only app on my system that won't play video.

So now that I've followed the other posts, and still no work....

Can someone help me get it running and functional?

NVidia Card EVGA-GTX-560TI.
NVidia propritary drivers = current
Arch x86_64 =  current
Init = Pure systemd
DE=Mate Desktop

Thank you for your assistance!

Sincerely and respectfully,

Dave

Re: [SOLVED] Minitube Not Operational

The fix is from a fellow Archer on the actual minitube support site is to do this:

sudo mv /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstvideoparsersbad.so /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstvideoparsersbad.so.bak

Allegedly there is a nasty bug in the parser. So This is not a solution, but a workaround until the parser gets fixed. In the meantime, I'm going to reverse this and restore normality to my gstreamer libs until it gets fixed before minitube will work, ot otherwise I'll forget what I did!

Thanks!

Dave

Re: [SOLVED] Minitube Not Operational

I get a similar problem and this is 2013 now smile

When I start minitube 2.0-1 after a few seconds program completely freezes. I have to kill it. gstreamer version is 1.0.7-1

So I did that workaround that dcbdbis suggested.

Install phonon-vlc package and change your phonon-backend to phonon-vlc. You can change phonon-backend via KDE System Settings, or uninstall phonon-gstreamer package if you haven't KDE System Settings.
