Are these ones necessary, or were they missed?
Offline
Well, KDE needs .la files to work. So maybe these are necessary too.

shadow was slayed today, heh, it wasn't exactly a 100% thing guys.
and to that I should probably add that there are less than a half handfull of packages that still have la's that shouldnt, we know which, and they'll die, don't worry
The suggestion box only accepts patches.

This really is getting foolish. I have .la files on my system too. But no one seems to know what or what not to do with them. It's kinda assinine.

Hey, let the devs do their work... These stragglers will disappear too, in due time.

It is also asinine to spell "asinine" wrong, just to point out the irony there :-P

SASL uses .la files to load authentication modules
db /usr/lib/libdb-4.3.la
db /usr/lib/libdb_cxx-4.3.la
DB was left in because fedora and FreeBSD do so too
gnome-applets /opt/gnome/share/xmodmap/xmodmap.la
Try to cat it, you'll see it's not a libtool file
gnutls /usr/lib/libgnutls-extra.la
gnutls /usr/lib/libgnutls-openssl.la
gnutls /usr/lib/libgnutls.la
GnuTLS was preserved too, same reason as DB
gst-plugins-hermes /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.8/libgsthermescolorspace.la
hermes /usr/lib/libHermes.la
Hermes doesn't build with gcc4, no package in the repos that use it -> exit hermes
libtool /usr/lib/libltdl.la
Gosh, why would you slay libtool
shadow /lib/libshadow.la
According to documentation, this lib is never used, I didn't touch the whole package to be sure not to break something
sudo /usr/libexec/sudo_noexec.la
It's not a lib, so I didn't see reason to slay it.

Ah... Thanks for the info. 8)
