I am trying to install ArchLinux on my MacBook Pro 8 3, but when I boot from Archboot I am getting kernel panics or something because it freezes while booting. I have tried passing different options as it freezes at different places when I do. Here are the options I have tried passing:
nomodeset
noapic
nointremap
uvesafb=1920x1200-16
Is there something I am missing? Any help would be great.
Thanks

I figured out that if I use the options it will boot all the way:
acpi=off radeon.modeset=0

Thanks for your post, zmbmartin. It got me a little further, but not enough.
With "acpi=off radeon.modeset=0", Archboot gets to the setup message. However, the keyboard doesn't work - I can't press enter to get a shell, nor use the function keys to switch between virtual consoles. Did you use any other options?
By the way, mine is a MBP 8,2 (15", Radeon+Intel graphics).
