No audio with X Server

Hi,
I have a problem on my machine, where if I start any audio playback AFTER starting X Server, I get no sound output.
I checked the various mixers, but they are all properly configured.

However, if I start playing audio BEFORE starting X Server, I get sound output, and it even continues after X Server Is loaded.

I am unsure as to what I should be checking for errors in this case. Could someone please guide me?

Re: No audio with X Server

I don't think X Server itself has anything to do with your audio.
Sometimes your DE/WM might do some configuring of your audio on its' own.
Which alsa/pulseaudio/OSS are you using?
Could be the audio hardware doesn't like the sound architecture you're using.
I have audio hardware that went back and forth between alsa and OSS, alsa being the better choice.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Re: No audio with X Server

@nomorewindows: Thanks for your reply.
So, I'm using XFCE on my system.
I have been using alsa as my sound architecture, but XFCE seems to like Pulse, so, once it starts up, the sound architecture switches to pulse.
The thing is, before starting XFCE, I can play audio. The playback continues after XFCE starts.
It will keep playing the playlist. However, if I pause/unpause, I lose all sound.
