Centrino Wireless ipw2200 failure after the 1 Oct Upgrade

My centrino intel pro 2200 wireless card was working well with 2.6.12 and the current/extra arch packages. However after doing the big 1 October upgrade, I cannot get the wireless network operating.

This message is often noted after using wireless_tools commands ...

Warning: Driver for device eth1 has been compiled with version 18
of Wireless Extension, while this program supports up to version 17.
Some things may be broken...

And running #iwconfig --version ...

iwconfig  Wireless-Tools version 27
Compatible with Wireless Extension v11 to v17.
Kernel    Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v18.
eth1      Recommend Wireless Extension v16 or later,
Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v18.

I see that Judd is maintaining wireless_tools .. should I send this to him?

Perhaps the above warnings are linked to my problems. My problem is that everything looks like it is setup correctly and the modem is connected to the wireless network but I cannot ping the modem. ESSID and keys are correct. The access point is correct. But always ... #Connect: Network is unreachable.

There are no problems with the ethernet 'wired' connection.

I've always had that message on my wireless setup, but it's been working fine for months so I just ignore it! Your problem is probably due to something else I guess.....

Cheers, Renners

Ok. thanks. I guess that eliminates one possible reason.

I think it may be some sort of gateway problem. Just using the ethernet, i cannot just #ifconfig eth0 down and #ifconfig eth0 up (& dhcpcd). The result is network unreachable.

Same problem here, I had that waring too but that wasn't the problem, because with the new package (from testing) the warning is gone but I still cannot connect wireless
