Hi
I have two problms with my computer which make it unusuable.
First: My machine crashes most of the time when booting at processing the udev uevents OR it doesn't even attempt to load the BIOS.
See for a more detailed : http://imgur.com/YzY2Z
I suspect the five years old power supply unit (mean lifetime between failure according to the manual: 100.000 hrs = ~12 years) to be defect, but I am not sure.
Any ideas?
Second: Recently these artifacts have shown up on my screen. Moreover when my PC happens to boot successfully the X server fails to start (NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidia0 (Input/output error))
I can exclude the monitor, video cable and drivers as the cause of the problem so I guess the video card needs to be replaced, but I'd like to hear a second opinion before I buy a new one.
I'd be really grateful anybody could help me.
SOLVED by replacing PSU and video card.
Regards, HolyGuac

Yes, I suspect power supply problems and video card, as you suggest. Once you've solved those make sure you also check the state of your RAM with memtest.
