Nouveau Kernel

Does Nouveau have to be loaded as base kernel can not use open nv  or NVidia prop driver ?
WHY
Have amd64bit system, with Nvidia gt220 card with hdmi output of video & [other distros] sound via hdmi.
As of 2 weeks ago got 64bit base and  icewm working. Gigabyte system board has on-board sound as Intel-HDA .
On other distros had to blacklist on-board AND get the nvidia.com prop bin driver into the kernel and X.
Can Nouveau kernel driver do hdmi sound ; or gen kernel without nouveau - blacklist at startup
  {Since open nv video driver or nvidia prop-bin driver can be installed with  Nouveau  running }
did a search on forum for subject before posting.

Re: Nouveau Kernel

Just install nvidia with pacman, and then reboot. Nouveau will be blacklisted automatically.

nv is old and deprecated, don't use it.

Re: Nouveau Kernel

Months ago swap out NV card for ATI/AMD video card [hdmi-audio works on Open_Driver]
The stable_Nouveau wiki matrix informs: that maybe some NV cards may some day, do
HDMI-AUDIO when someone writes for the card, as of Sep 28,2012 NOT_FIXED.
