Then, I admit I haven't read the entire thread, anyway do you notice that Dwb (as every Webkit based browser) don't get over Ajax?

If webkit wouldn't handle ajax it wouldn't rarely be usable at all. And i won't
give Microsoft my phone number to create a hotmail account.

Do you mean I'm wrong and Ajax isn't a problem for Webkit?
Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker.

It was just an example.
I've opened mine years ago, now I use Gmail.
Anyway, AFAIK, phone number isn't necessary.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

I don't understand what the problem with ajax-requests is, webkit handles ajax-requests just fine. If hotmail doesn't work it may be a different issue.

And I don't have any clues about that. Every Webkit browsers I tested can't handle it.
BTW you're right, was my fault. I'm making some more tests and it works.

Edit:

I'm trying Dwb as my daily graphical browser.
Some (hope no banal) more questions:

- what's about mimetipes?
I've tried with

application/pdf; zathura
application/video; vlc

in

$HOME/.config/dwb/mimetypes

but Dwb still ask for download pdf.

- What's about putting infos (clock, date and so on) in status bar? Is it possibile in Bash?

- Is there a way to have Bookmarks divided in a directories tree in the ookmarks file?

Thanks a lot.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

I might have missed this in the manual (and the previous pages), but was there a way to switch to tab n? (like, one of the commands that starts with a number), rather than switching tabs just by cycling through them with Shift j,k?

@rix

Ah, thanks.  I must have passed it when I got to the cycling by mistake.

@portix

thank you for making this.  I was making vimperator before, but it never worked very reliably for me.  This is working well smile

It's not possible to disable animated gifs in webkit, you can either use privoxy or the builtin adblocker.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

I'm having a pretty major problem where loading almost any page crashes dwb. I think it has something to do with this line:

dwb: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgnutls.so.28: undefined symbol: nettle_rsa_pkcs1_verify

It's because I've found that the problem isn't Ajax but just Hotmail instead.
Thanks for your support and suggestions anyway. Really appreciate. smile

* The biggets problem now is that I can't get how to display infos in browsers status bar.
I've tried with Conkeror (which I've success in show up date and clock but nothing else. And then I'd prefer to use Dwb instead of Conkeror), Dwb, Vimperator and a very little bit with Vimprobable.
Help please. Thanks.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

For mimetypes, you toggle download vs "open-with" through ctrl+x when asked for download path.

For status info then I don't think you can that, but normally we allready have that kinda info displayed in the statusbar of our DE or WM anyways.

Sorry, I don't know anything about bookmarks, as I always use, and love, quickmarks instead...

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

@ mhertz:

many thanks. smile

So don't we need mimetypes file?

I don't use Wm status because I use the Tmux one. But when I use Dwb I can't see Tmux.

I think it'd be done but I've made many tries with no luck at all.

What are differents between quick and book marks?

Thanks again man. smile

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

You're welcome!

For the mimetypes, then it works like this:

Select e.g. a pdf in dwb, and then dwb will prompt you for download-path. If you press return, then downloading starts, but if instead pressing ctrl+x, then a new dialog comes foreward where you enter the app to spawn i.e. open the pdf with, so you enter zathura and press return and now zathura start.

Next time you select a pdf, then again you use ctrl+x to toggle between downloading or opening with external app, and the mimetypes file is used to remember that you .e.g. previously had entered zathura for pdfs...

Quickmarks are the same as bookmarks, except that they are aliased by a key or key-combo instead.

For example, on the arch forum, you select m and then e.g. a, so that the arch site is aliased to the letter a, and then to go to that site in the feuture, you press b followed by a.

Please read the documentation and look at the keybindings there also...

@rix: Yeah, it's possible, but if you post during the weekend the chance is very high that i don't answer. It's currently not possible  to modify content of the statusbar, it's hardcoded.

So is it possible through the source? In the case it is, could you just suggest me where to start (there is many *.c files)?
Thanks again.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

The statusbar text is set in dwb.c, there are 2 functions that update the statusbar text, dwb_update_status_text and dwb_update_uri.
