Problem upgrading pacman

I try to update pacman to it newest version but it says that it is up to date. My running version of pacman is 2.4 so I know it isn't up to date. I did the following:

pacman -Syu
pacman -S pacman

How can I fix that or what I'm doing wrong?
I would appreciate Ur help. Thanks !

Not sure what the problem with upgrading is...

You can do this though:

wget ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/current/pacman-2.7.1-2.pkg.tar.gz
pacman -U pacman-2.7.1-2.pkg.tar.gz
