Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

Yeah, I haven't officially updated the E17 packages, but my build script for them updates the PKGBUILD that the repo is built off of, so it's seeing packages that aren't there... I'm working on E right now. Hopefully I'll have good news in a few hours.

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

I have some bad news. E17 CVS is apperantly broken for the time being. It has been since 09-29-05. There appear to be some unresolved issues with ecore, which I will have to wait for the E17 devs to fix upstream. At the moment, I can't even run my own packages. sad

Until this gets fixed, please keep your pre 20050929 packages. I will announce again when I'm able to run it... Sorry everyone.

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

Now I have good news. E17 packages have been updated, and are confirmed working!

The only thing I am having issues with at this point is Engage, but other than that small issue, everything seems to be working wonderfully.

I also added Express (EFL based IM program) to my repo.

Why dont you add the PKGBUILDs for the pkgs you make in your repo in the AUR? Like evidence and such?

There are already (non-CVS) E17 PKGBUILDs in the AUR, maintained by resnel. He uses the freedesktop binary releases.  The PKGBUILDs I use are available from my repo as well at http://archpkg.wgilk.com/pkgbuild .

A side note re: OPERA et.al.

Klik provides a cramfs cmg file in Arch which places the whole OPERA, et.al., on the desktop in compressed format, decompressed on the fly.  It permits quicker access than full-install.

I know there are e17 pkgbuilds in the aur already, but it isn't ALL of the e17 pkgbuilds, only a subset of them. I was wondering why you didn't submit the missing pieces, thats all.  Because you dont want to have a freedesktop/cvs conflict in the aur?

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

Why don't you change your packages' names to $pkgname-cvs? Then you could add your PKGBUILDs to the AUR without any conflict. My packages already have "$pkgname-cvs" in their "conflicts" field, so that pacman would just ask to remove them.

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

I already packaged FF 1.5b2 by changing only the version numbers and the MD5 hash in the PKGBUILD.
It seems working fine, and it certainly crashes a lot less than b1.

Because there is someone else that uses $pkgname-cvs. I have no intention of adding these to the AUR because they aren't going to always work due to CVS changes. If someone really wants to, the pkgbuilds are available on my site.

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

I noticed that the environment settings for e17 are in /etc/profile.d/e17.profile, but /etc/source only runs *.sh files. I had to rename e17.profile to e17.sh in order to have the correct paths set. If there's no purpose to this, maybe you could fix it in the PKGBUILD. If there is a purpose, I'd like to know what smile

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

I just noticed evidence installs to /usr/local :!:  mistake?

EDIT: Strange, I just saw your PKGBUILD, which should install to /opt/e17, but pacman -Ql evidence shows everything at /usr/local/share...

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

Repo updated.

-Evidence installs to the proper location (/opt/e17/bin)
-e17.profile renamed to e17.sh (evas package)

Thanks for noticing nightfrost. smile

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

E17 installs its own .desktop file now, you don't need e17.desktop - look at my community e package.
And why does e conflict with enlightenment? Doesn't it have a different prefix?

Thanks. E conflicts with enlightenment because they both have a program called "enlightenment". tongue

Re: Shadowhand's Devel Repo (Firefox, Gaim, Xfce, etc)

I find that it is null to have now two people who update the same packages (e17-cvs).
Work and waste of time I believed that the community was more intelligent than that.
We could have spoken about it and to modify my packages if you did not find them correct.
I am really disappointed.
if I reacted in the same way, I must make pkg of firefox beta loooool

I don't really thing it has anything to do with your repo. He probably uses it for himself and simply offered it for download as well. What's the problem? roll

I don't really know how to reply to that. You could have PM'ed me instead of doing it in the open for a better start.

I provide E17 CVS packages because I build my own. I also build other bleeding edge stuff like Beagle and Firefox betas, so I created a repository for users to test out bleeding edge things, including E17, which I like to build more often than you update your repo, which is why I don't use yours.

E17 repositories have gone in and out of being maintained a lot around here, which is why I will continue to build my own packages. If you are truely offended that I provide packages too, I will remove them.
