I first noticed this yesterday when I created a new account for my gf. When logging into KDE it hung on initialising system services. Using a ssh session I could see kbuildsycoca using 99% of the CPU. When killed, the account logged in.
Logged back into my own account fine, noticed kbuildsycoca was using ~70% CPU, so killed its process. Now my account also hangs when logging in. Doh! When run from a terminal, kbuildsycoca says its Reusing existing ksyscoa and hangs.
Any help would be appreciated!

Well after lots of attempted solutions I resorted to removing the whole of KDE , qt and all that depended on them and all files I could find related and re-installing the lot.
Not the best solution  but the problem is gone
