[SOLVED] udev crash when upgraded RAM to 8GB

I have Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13" model 0217-2QG.

I have two RAM slots: one with 4GB DDR3 and one empty.

I've put next 4GB DDR3 in this empty slot and when booting my system crashes and shutdowns at:

:: Waiting for udev uevents to be processed [BUSY]

Any solution for this?

I've googled it and nothing, I've upgraded BIOS and still nothing.

Details:

1 - Samsung RAM
2 - Kingston RAM (I've bought this one)

EDIT: With 8GB Live CD distros work, but not my installed Arch.

EDIT II: It doesn't work when I leave the second RAM stick, it still crashes.

Have you tried removing your original stick and booting with only the new stick installed? (make sure you insert it where the original one was)
If that works try putting the original stick in the secondary slot.

Yeah, doesn't work.

But it works good with Ubuntu Live CD...

Re: [SOLVED] udev crash when upgraded RAM to 8GB

Did you try booting with the fallback initrd?

a try doesn't cost much time!

Swap the sticks until you find out which combination gives you a broken system.

Oh and... the title sounds a little like udev crashed while you added RAM. I would not have found this curious :-)

Re: [SOLVED] udev crash when upgraded RAM to 8GB

If it won't boot with ONLY the new stick inserted it's got to be either a bad ram stick or some sort of incompatibility with your board.

If you can boot to Memtest86+ with only the new stick in scan it to see if it's the problem, but I doubt it will help you otherwise. See if you can buy another stick the same brand as your first (preferably identical).

I think memtest is on the arch iso?

I'll try.

Live CD boots and Mac OS X installer also boots (unmodified).

I'll test it with memtest

Re: [SOLVED] udev crash when upgraded RAM to 8GB

Arch Install CD won't boot, memtest also. Just restarts my laptop.

I think it's because of different clock.

I can use two different sticks with the same clock (tested), but not with different clock.

Re: [SOLVED] udev crash when upgraded RAM to 8GB

Step 1: Mark as solved.
Step 2: Buy ram that has the same clock.
