Hi all.
I have arch64 installed in my new laptop with Optimus.
And the graphics drivers installation part strictly follows http://www.pavanky.com/archlinux-cuda-o … ge-kepler/
Although using bumblebee I can use `optirun` to run applications via nVIDIA GPU.
But I still can not work if I don't load the kernel with 'nomodeset' parameter.
If 'nomodeset' is not presented. The screen would be off after 'Waiting for uDEV events'.
Or if I compiled 'i915' module into initramfs the screen would be off immediately after the initramfs is loaded.
Even when blackscreen occurs X launches normally. I can check the log and I found nothing inproper there.
Here is my device info when vesa driver is used.

I've done a experiment.
First I boot the kernel with nomodeset parameter.
Then I use these commands to manually load intel drivers.
sudo modprobe -r i915
sudo modprobe i915 modeset=1
After that I get a black screen.

It's done.
Everything work well with kernel parameter 'acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor'

Hi mrain,
I have slackware64 installed on my hp dv4-5106tx and I have the same problem.
I tried your method and it works excellent!
Well done!
