Is there going to be new install media soon?

Seems like they're releasing one every month now?  I'm going to reinstall soon and I'm just wondering if a new install disc is coming soon I would wait.

Yes, one is being prepared. Some last-minute issues need to be ironed out.

There's little to be gained by waiting for this month's ISO. You'll end up with the exact same results.

A clever user might figure out that we've already released the ISO, there's just been no announcement yet.

Woops should have checked the download page.

http://www.archlinux.org/download/

Is this one final? Karol said there were some last minute issues. Anything I need to watch out for? I may just give it a go tonight if this ISO is good.

EDIT: I know I could just pacman -Syu but at the moment I don't even have Arch installed on my computer.  I dual boot Windows 7 and Linux.  A couple months back I decided to try out Xubuntu but ended up not using it too much.  Main reason for wanted to switch back to Arch is for Pacman.  Apt just kind of frustrates me and lacks the simplicity and the "it just works" feeling of Pacman.  For example, for whatever reason when doing a simple check for updates it returns like 20 or 30 lines downloading all these different files just to CHECK if there's updates.  With Pacman, it just downloads "core", "extra", "community", then it's done.  So much simpler and faster.

You should really believe him. He knows what he's talking about. If you're worried about this current iso, use the one from last month.

I just suck at writing announcements. For Arch users, new install media are also not that exciting.

^ This. You can download the latest installation media and try out. I believe there will be not much difference between the current image and the new one (unless they bring back AIF or something like that, which IMHO it's not going to happen). Besides, its a net install.

We want you back! big_smile

Best of luck smile

There seem to be some differences: http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 23721.html
It's a draft, not the final announcement.

Re: Is there going to be new install media soon?

I tested booting it in a virtual machine, and it is really fast since it is running systemd now.  I always download the image via torrent so that I can seed whenever my computer is on.  I haven't actually used one of the images to install since the arch-install-scripts can really be run from anywhere (or simply done manually from pacman).

Other than that, nothing really exciting.  They say that there is improved UEFI booting, but I have not tested it.

As we have a new one as of today, I am going to use this opportunity to close this thread.
