[Solved]How to change the cursor and icon theme in wmii?

Hi, does anybody know how to change the cursor and icon theme in wmii? Are there any packages for this? Thanks.

Re: [Solved]How to change the cursor and icon theme in wmii?

Hi
As far as I know, cursors and icons are not handled by a window manager, but GUI toolkits (such as GTK, for example). But since I don't use wmii, I'm not a reliable source.
Otherwise, take a look at this. Personally I'm using lxappearance, but I guess this is up to you.

For icons:

$ pacman -Ss icon-theme

for a start

--edit (yes, 9+ years later, deal with it): This was in fact not 100% correct, the icon shape (pointer, cross, arrow, …) for when the cursor hovers over the root window (empty space not covered by any client windows, i.e. typically the "desktop") is set by whoever controls the root window. In most cases, that is the window manager. While the cursor theme must still be set elsewhere, the shape is another topic.

Re: [Solved]How to change the cursor and icon theme in wmii?

arcaprentice, welcome to Arch.

ayekat is correct. A window manager (like wmii) manages windows, not cursor and icon themes. lxappearance (and other tools) will show you what you have installed and allow you to switch between themes, and the link ayekat provided will tell you how to install more themes. The tools operate independently from the window manager.

Hi
lxappearance works for me. Thanks!
It seems I can just change the settings in .gtkrc-2.0 to apply the themes, and lxappearance does this for me. Thanks a lot!
