Hey,
I get the following error when trying to do an update:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
ghc: /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/hslogo-16.png exists in filesystem
ghc: /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/synopsis.png exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
How can I solve that? I did not do pacman force, as this may damage my system.

pacman -Qo /path/to/file will show you which package owns a file, please post the output for those 2 conflicting files.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Sure...
error: No package owns /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/hslogo-16.png
error: No package owns /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/synopsis.png
That's odd.

Well, solution is straightforward since the conflicting files do not belong to any package :
move those files to a backup location incase you do need them later, then update .

I had the same problem.
I just removed those files and upgrade went fine.
EDIT backup would be better ofcourse, but I didn't do that because I'm pretty sure I don't need these png's

Worked for me too. Thanks!

Also for me, but it's annoying. Does this count as a bug? It shouldn't be hard to fix. It deserves either an email to the maintainer or a bug report.

Same problem, same solution.

thanks !!!

This was pretty weird. First time I've ran into issues with pacman. I moved the two pngs and it worked fine. Interesting that multiple people are gettng same error.

me too. strange that ghc owns them now, but nothing did before, yet they still existed.
were they possible generated on the fly and not registered as belonging to ghc or what?

same problem here, same solution as well.....;-)

I had the same issue, moving it to a backup location fixed it. Anyone know what caused it?

I also removed the files, then updated. Seems to have went fine.
