Network Streamer

I recently broke my netbook's screen (too much weight in my backpack, seven mile bike commute to school, etc.).

Great. I can use it to stream music to my stereo (about 40ft away from my desktop).

Since the screen doesn't work, I simply want to turn the laptop on and have the laptop play music.

I use mpd and alsa on the desktop. I know pulseaudio can accomplish all this out of the box. But pulseaudio creates a layer of complexity I don't want. Any other ideas?

Re: Network Streamer

I think your best bet is running mpd on your netbook and controlling it from your desktop. This would require all your music being on your netbook. Or, you could share your music with your netbook via a Samba share on your Desktop.

I should note that Pulseaudio is really perfect for this kind of thing and it works great.
