Xorg update seems to break ATI Catalyst

Hi all

Just a quick note for users of the proprietary ATI Catalyst driver, the latest Xorg update seems to break it (at least on my system).

Boot sequence proceeds as normal until GDM loads, then the screen oscillates slowly between black and white.

Any suggested fix?

Well, you could downgrade your xserver or upgrade your catalyst smile

Re: Xorg update seems to break ATI Catalyst

I was on catalyst-test from AUR, and it broke last week, so I downgraded to the Arch repo catalyst, which worked til today.

You reckon re-up to catalyst-test again?

Yes.

Here my working configuration:

xorg-server 1.13.0-2
xorg-server-common 1.13.0-2
catalyst-test 12.9-4

Hope it works for you too smile

Hi there smile

Did Pacman upgrade your kernel alongside Xorg?. Maybe you need to rebuild the fglrx module.

Best of Luck big_smile

Re: Xorg update seems to break ATI Catalyst

I had the same issue today when I upgraded.

Rebuilding the fglrx module solved the problem.
