Keyboard stops working after some time

Hi,

I'm using a laptop (ThinkPad x121e). Before today, I always used its internal keyboard and everything was fine. However, today I bought a CM Storm QuickFire Rapid USB keyboard, with which I'm experiencing a problem. The problem is that after being plugged in, the keyboard works OK for some time, then stops working at all. After some replugging, it works again, only to fail again after some more time.
Here's the output of dmesg | grep usb:

To me it seems as if the keyboard just unplugs itself. Could it be a software problem, or is it definitely a hardware one?

Re: Keyboard stops working after some time

My first guess would be hardware.  You could test that out by trying it on another PC, or if you can dual boot, see if it fails under windows.

Re: Keyboard stops working after some time

Enabling irqpool didn't help, neither did changing the cable. I've also experienced this under Windows (on this same laptop).
This doesn't sound good sad

Re: Keyboard stops working after some time

I think you probably have the power saving feature of the relevent usb feature set to 'auto'.

On my machine, the relevent /sys files are located at /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb[1-4]/power/control , the contents of that 'control' file should not be auto for the port that the usb keyboard is plugged in to.  Otherwise it will automatically power down after a bit.
